LEAP Pond tidy

Thanks to all who came last month to clear the Village pond – especially James who got into the deep end! We successfully cleared the middle third this time. I took some photos and I’ll add them to the website.

On Saturday this week (4th November) we will be moving the dredgings and cuttings from the pond side to the compost heap. Please come with wheelbarrows and forks, we already have some cutting tools if needed.

We’ll meet in the car park opposite the Village Hall at 10am and finish at midday.

LEAP Pond clearing

The LEAP working group will be clearing part of the pond opposite the village hall this weekend. We have borrowed the usual waders and chromes (long handled funny shaped forks) so we can get into the deep end! We will also be cutting back the pond surrounds, but leaving the Michaelmas daisies.

As recommended, we will be only clearing one third of the pond. This year it will be the middle. There is plenty of other work to do too, but if you fancy a dip please go in! We also need rakes, long handled hoes, forks and wheelbarrows. Please bring your own gloves and wellies. All the growth cut down will be left at the side of the pond for a few weeks, then we’ll dispose of it locally
